A big congratulations go out to Sound Pet Animal Rescue and Referral (SPARR), a Cary, North Carolina rescue that saves gimpies from shelters, gets them the medical care they need and adopts them out to loving homes. SPARR was recently announced as the third winner of Care2's America's Favorite Animal Shelter contest!
Please visit their site and congratulate them, and make a donation. While the prize money will help with their cause, rescues such as SPARR can use all the money they can get to continue pulling sick, injured, abused dogs from shelters and giving them a new leash on life.

Hope Needs Help NOW!

If ever there was a dog that needed help, its Hope, and she needs your help now!
I know we're in tough economic times, but Hope needs surgery fast due to her injury.
Hope was surrendered to a shelter with this injury, and nobody knows how it happened. Luckily for her, the Sacramento Independent Animal Rescuers, Inc. got her released to them and they took her to a vet. She is awaiting amputation, but the rescue needs the funds to have the surgery done.
Please, if you can even spare $5.00 to donate, Hope needs your help. Please spread the word and lets make sure that Hope does have hope for a pain free and happy life.
Sacramento Independent Animal Rescuers Inc. is a registered non-profit, so all donations are tax deductible. Go to their site and donate what you can for poor Hope!

Biloxi Update
Some of you may recall the plight of poor Biloxi.
After a lot of tender loving care, it turns out that he didn't require surgery for his broken pelvis, but he may need it in the future if complications set in. Thanks to everyone's donations though, some other lucky gimpy dogs in MaPaw's care were able to receive life saving treatment.

Biloxi has also found a wonderful forever home and is being spoiled rotten (as he deserves). He also blogs now, so stop by his blog and leave a comment for him.

Triumph Update

Triumph has been battling an infection in her implants for quite some time. Recently she was fitted for a cart, thanks to Eddie's Wheels. While her new cart will give her added mobility and take the pressure off her implants, Triumph has developed another complication in her implant, and it looks as though she will have to have them removed, and possibly have part of one of her legs amputated.
While this certainly is a set back, Triumph will undoubtedly come through with flying colors, and now with her cart, should be as mobile as before, helping out with her therapy dog duties and being an ambassador to gimpy dogs world-wide.

Help Organizations
Sometimes your pet becomes ill or injured and the cost of treatment is expensive. Below is a list of organizations that MAY be able to help you afford or provide low cost treatment for your gimpy. Remember, it doesn't hurt to ask, all they will say is "no", so try as many as possible.
Also, some breed specific clubs offer a vet assistance fund. Please check with your local breed specific chapter to see if one exists in your area.
The good people at Tripawds also has a list of help organizations, so I highly recommend you visit their list as well. To see their list, click here
If you are a 501(c)3 Rescue and need help raising funds for gimpy dogs, please contact Gimpy Dogs to arrange to have your dog posted for fund raising. All links will go to your non-profit site, and all money will be donated straight to your organization.

You Can Be An Angel

This plea is posted on behalf of Northern California Sled Dog (NorSled) Rescue
Are you in the Sacramento, CA area?
Do you have room in your heart, and a little space in your life?
For a quiet, sweet Husky girl?
There is a very sweet, shy 12 year old female Siberian Husky in the shelter at the moment, who is as much a victim of the current economic times as anyone, her owners lost their home to foreclosure, and their new home will not allow pets. At her age it is unlikely she will find a home from the shelter. We are looking for someone to step up and foster her – take her in and see that she is cared for.
Can you find a place in your life to foster this lovely lady? If yes, let us know!!!
If you can foster this sweet senior, please contact Debbie Hoelscher at:
Rescue@NorSled.org, or Phone: 800-471-5822
