While talking to a co-worker this morning, she told me that her vet is having her switch her dog's insulin from vetsulin to a human variety of insulin because (from what my co-worker understood) the manufacturer would not be making it any more.
I did some quick looking around and found this notice on the Vetsulin Web site in regard to the company and the FDA stopping production because there was an issue with the insulin that could cause issues. The company and FDA is trying to rectify the issue, but don't have a timeframe, therefore they are asking people to work with their vets to transition their dogs from Vetsulin to another form of insulin until they can get back in production.
Here is the link the notice.
If anyone has any more information or suggestions for other diabetic dogs, please leave them in the comments or e-mail me (click link on the right hand side) and I'll make sure to post it for everyone to see.
