Impulse is a 3-year old mix breed who was on his way to being an amazingly fast sport dog with training in both Agility and Flyball. Here he is on a podium after performing for the first time in the Superdogs show in Toronto.
About two weeks after this photo was taken, he collided with one of his big dog brothers and suffered a subluxation of his spine and was temporarily paralyzed from the neck down. Since then, he has regained movement in all of his legs and can move around in his own wobbly way. He is both urine and bowel incontinent and needs to be expressed and washed on a daily basis.
Even though life has dealt him a rough hand, Impulse has taken it all in stride. Despite his disability, if he's near a Flyball lane or agility course, he runs over to try to play. He loves to play with other dogs, and has such an amazing personality and spirit.
Unfortunately his time is short. His owner is going through a divorce and has had to move in with her parents and with her other dogs, her parents' dogs and dealing with such a drastic change in her living arrangements, she is unable to give Impulse the care he needs. Her parents are encouraging her to have him euthanized. His owner is devastated by this turn of events, and her friend Sonia has offered to try to help find him a new home.
Impulse is located near Toronto, Canada, and would do well in an active home with another gentle dog to play with. He's never been around cats.
Sonia is willing to arrange for him to be transported to wherever she can find him a good home.
If you can, or know someone who is willing to give Impulse the love and care that he needs, please contact Sonia at: Sonia (arianam_999@yahoo.com)
Please cross post this story, and let's show little Impulse that even though life gives you challenges, there's someone out there who cares to give you the chance you need to shine.
